The pump body is composed of water suction chamber and pressurized water chamber. The inlet of the water suction chamber and the outlet of the pressurized water chamber are the pump inlet flange and outlet flange, which are used to connect the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe. The water suction chamber is generally a cone-shaped nozzle stub or isometric straight pipe, which is used to lead the water flow into the impeller and provide the required flow pattern to the impeller. The role of the pressurized water chamber is to collect the liquid from the impeller and lead the flow to the outlet. The outer shape of the pressurized water chamber is very much like a snail shell, commonly known as the volute. And the impeller is wrapped in the volute.

The top of the pump body is equipped  with a air-bleed hole ( irrigation hole ) for pumping vacuum or irrigation. A water discharge hole is arranged at the bottom of the shell, and the square-head bolt is used to plug the water. And the water accumulated in the pump is discharged after the machine is shut down to prevent the corrosion of parts in the pump and the freezing of the pump body in winter. The pump body is made of cast iron or cast steel, and the inner surface is required to be smooth to reduce the hydraulic loss.
