The lead content in these alloys is typically between 7 percent and 30 percent. These alloys perform well in unforgiving environments where foreign matter may be present, such as dirt and other foreign materials. High lead alloys are able to envelope foreign matter due to their malleable nature and in doing so protect the wear surface of mating part such as a shaft.
