Magnesium fluoride is a colorless tetragonal crystal or powder, odorless, insoluble in water and alcohol, slightly soluble in dilute acid, dissolved in nitric acid. Under the electro-optic heating,it appears weakly fluorescent purple, crystal have a good polarization effect, especially suitable for ultraviolet and infrared spectra.Toxic.
