You need to decide the stroke length and force actuator you need. The stroke length is the length the actuator moves through. A 12 inch Stroke actuator will move 12 inch, but the length of the actuator when retracted will be about 8 inch longer than the stroke. A 12 inch stroke actuator is about 20 inch in total.
